What is The Graph?

As an indexing protocol, The Graph is an open-source and decentralized platform that users can use to perform simple queries regarding any Ethereum data. With blockchain apps struggling with query fulfillment and chain reorganization, this protocol remedies such issues via APIs that make data accessible. Developers utilize these subgraphs to create powerful decentralized applications. Introduced in July 2018, the platform uses its native currency, The Graph Token (GRT), to coordinate all work on the network. Indexers or node operators process queries and earns GRT based on what they stake. Users can delegate tokens to Indexers for security and get rewarded in return. Curators use GRT to signal valuable subgraphs. The Graph successfully integrates with Chainlink (LINK), an industry-leading decentralized oracle network, allowing smart contracts to access valuable indexed data. The platform witnessed significant growth in 2020, reaching a billion queries right when decentralized finance (DeFi) caught institutional attention. GRT is an ERC-20 token is used for data query payment and as an incentive for node operators. It has a total supply of over 10 billion tokens and a circulating supply of almost 3 billion GRT. This unique platform has a market cap of around $1.5 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.

The Graph (GRT) is an Ethereum token that powers The Graph, a decentralized protocol for indexing and querying data from blockchains. Just as Google indexes the web, The Graph indexes blockchain data from networks like Ethereum and Filecoin. This data is grouped into open APIs called subgraphs that anyone can query. RESOURCES
