What is Tether?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin, which is intended as a stable substitute for the dollar. It trades under the USDT and is pegged to a fiat currency in theory. It is different from other cryptocurrencies in that its value remains steady, unlike coins like Ethereum or Bitcoin, whose value is speculative and fluctuates significantly. This token was designed to have a literal value of $1, although the network later revealed that each token was not backed by fiat completely. USDT is closer to $0.75, according to Tether. This cryptocurrency was introduced in 2015 and aimed to offer transparency and low transaction fees to its users. Tether is helpful for investors who want to avoid the volatility of other cryptocurrencies. The USDT also prevents delays in trade execution and lessens transaction costs that are otherwise experienced when using the US dollar. A trader could reduce their risk for price drops of crypto when choosing to move value with Tether. USDT cannot be mined, and there is no available fixed amount for this cryptocurrency. However, despite the controversies surrounding stablecoins, Tether remains a key player in the crypto world. The current market cap is valued at $62.7 billion with the same circulating supply since it is pegged with the dollar.
